Lace Up Your Shoes And Do Some Organizing
Almost 10 days ago, President Obama issued a challenge to all Americans, saying, “If something needs fixing, then lace up your shoes and do some organizing.”
But, how do one become an activist?
If something needs fixing, then lace up your shoes and do some organizing. If you’re disappointed by your elected officials, grab a clipboard, get some signatures, and run for office yourself. -President Obama
Tiffany Onyejiaka, a senior of John Hopkins University and President of the school’s Black Student Union, give a powerful Ted Talk about how anyone can be an activist.
In just one day, America will get a new president, one who doesn’t live up to the true spirit of America. A president who will undoubtedly deliver many injustices to the American people. A president who will need to be reminded many times that he is a servant of the people.
No, I can’t see into the future but, I am a firm believer that a person will show you who they are, and I believe that Trump has shown the American people his true colors.
With that being said, I think that it is time for the activist in all of us to come out.
Check out Tiffany Onyejiaka, Ted Talk and let me know what you think.
May God be with you until we meet again.
