Firm Foundation Bible Study: Introduction to Jeremiah

Bible Study: Jeremiah
Introduction to the book of Jeremiah

In my personal Bible study, I have been studying the book of Jeremiah. I’ve decided to kick off JTMG bible study with this prophet of God.

I am fascinated with the parallels in the book Jeremiah and the world we live in today.

During Jeremiah’s time, the world was full of war, idolatry, and disobedience to God.

Judah had been conquered by the Babylonians, then sometime later Jerusalem was also conquered. God chose Jeremiah to speak for Him when he was a young man. He began to bring God’s message to the people of Judah, then Jerusalem, then to God’s people in Eygpt after he was forced to go there with them.

Time after time, Jeremiah told the people that God was going to punish Judah. He reminded them that Judah had broken their agreement to worship only the One true God. Therefore the Lord was going to punish them by letting the Babylonians take them from their land.

However, with the promised punishment, God promised that He would bring them back to their land someday at which time they will be able to make a new agreement with God.

Over the next five weeks, we will be examining the book of Jeremiah. We will look at how God chose Jeremiah, how and why God punished Judah and Jerusalem, God’s message to His people, God;s promise to His people, and scenes from Jeremiah’s ministry.

Join JTMG Facebook page for bible study and discussions.

May God be with you until we meet again.
